I would also like to note that this thread has been surprisingly civil, we have not had people come here saying those who like it are gross. Actually I hope that more people could use this for a reason to watch it.

Actually I think I will rewatch some episodes, I started a rewatch probably around a month or two ago, and this got me going again. I also heard a while ago that there would be another OVA or something announced.

True, but I've had the nagging thought that it still goes over the top with what can only be considered Lolicon fan service. Even knowing why Rin acts the way she does, a lot of what she does isn't necessary for developing her character or the story. Some of the stuff is really difficult to explain away when trying to persuade someone to watch it. An open mind only goes so far.

I guess that's why the censored version is there, but even the censored version walks the line of taste.

There is a whole lot of great food-for-thought in KnJ, like the relationship between Aoki and [s]Boin[/s] Hyouin, and the way Rin's cousin is (nothing more said, seeing as I'm going by second-hand info).

What's kept me from watching this series is that I just can't get over Rin. It makes what's left of my conscience cringe.

But, yes, I do agree: Little Non's music is great. Last year, when I would wake up every morning at 5 to jog, the first three songs I'd always listen to were Cromartie's "Jun", "Libera Me From Hell", and "Hanamaru Sensation". Great way to wake up.[/spoiler]

When does anyone, real life or media, do things that are just "necessary". It is a mix doing things that just get by and doing things over the top.

The mangaka is not going to shy away from tell the story the way she wants because some people have moral compasses stuck up their butts. Every show walks some line of taste for someone no matter if it is violence or sexual. This show thrives on controversy in the subject matter if a person isn't comfortable with it then just move on to something else.

There is no use to talking about how loli or offensive the show is if a person won't accept that there is a story behind it and that the show has some other subtle plots going on.

I agree this show is hard to explain or convince a person to watch if they are fixated only on the loli.

edit:fixed

You have only seen one episode and have deemed the show unwatchable, bye.

What the hell? Did you even read the thread? How bout you go back and read the thread and then try again. Thanks.

Or at the very least, re-read the post you quoted.

Actually Arsenic, yeah, you did jump the gun when you jumped on DR.
First page, 9th post.

C'mon guys, we all enjoy this, lets not get into a war, otherwise someone'll lock this thread for certain.

I, for one, want to see where this heads.

......plus, it beats the heck out of the trainwreck that's known as the "Will You Miss the English Dubs" thread that's gone wayyyy off topic, and is nothing but shouting now.

*shrug* I'm over it.

Is the second term OVA ongoing? Isn't there a new season or OVA coming out later this year? Will my cursor stop jumping around?

Fixed to more of a generic approach.
I have been in the thread before and today I missed the comment about him completing the series.

Sorry 'bout that Arsenic, don't worry, i wasn't yelling at you. Heck, i'm glad you're here to jump in the KnJ party.

DR, I read that posting in the ANN news section, and to me , it was rather vague about just what was getting released. Is it dvd? Is it another volume of the manga? I'd settle for either really.

The OVAs so far are usually considered the "second season". It would be nice to see what direction the series could go. So many possibilities, not just regarding Rin either.

Then again, i'm still a big fan of Kuro, and the "crush" she had in the OVA's was really well handled.

Regarding the letdown regarding the theme songs, post-1st series, it's not bad-not as good as S1 (my opinion), but "Aijou Education" is just as good as the 1st season's OP & ED.

heh heh, I have it on my cd player here at work!

Yep! I can play anime tunes while working. I love my job!

It's cool. Sorry for jumping down your throat like that. Nice cover up there. Wink

It said that there was an ad attached to the manga saying that there's a new animation coming. I guess I can just as easily go back and check it out.

I want to see more of what happened with Nakamura. Heck, I want backstories on Kuro and Mimi, too. I guess it's explained in the manga (I'm sure at 50 volumes, some backstory has to take place).

I can too. Just in my head.

It's a new OVA disc attached to the limited edition of the next volume of the manga coming out in January.

I finished what's out for the 2nd term OVA. When I said I wanted more backstory and development for Kuro and Mimi, I should've finished the OVA first because it delivers it in spades. The whole OVA cuts back on the explicitness and really focuses on character development. I gained a lot of respect for Shirai (I can see how DP likes her).

This franchise still isn't an all time favorite, but it's one of the best, and certainly one of the more complex I've seen in the last few months, and it's the first one that makes me hungry for more, especially knowing that there is more out there in development.

I doubt that any of this will be released here in Australia, the laws are very strict.

In fact technicly even TMoHS should count as child pornography as Mikuru is under 18 and has a "sexualised dipiction", aswell as my R+V manga.

*sigh*

I know the feeling DuskyP. I'm in the US, and this will probably never make it to release here, since the safety nazi/politically correct crowds would crucify anyone who would carry it.

Not that i'm worried, I already got a (~ahem, winkwink nudgenudge~) "Region Free" dvd set of it. It's the censored version, but like i said before, the censored version is makes the funny parts even more humorous, to me at least.

Actually I wasn't planning on adding anything to this thread for awhile, I was waiting to see what others might have to say. BUT....

....I got a nice surprise in the mail, which I finally opened this morning, and it is relevant to the thread. A friend, and former roommate sent me a package with a Rin, Mimi, & Kuro (Yessss!!!!!!) figures! Nice way to start the day...and a new ye....er, forget that part. Wish i could.

Controversy? Hmm, I'll bite. Decided to give the first episode a try (at least since no one seems to take it down from YouTube). I was expecting horrid things, but objectively speaking, there are several things that don't make it nearly as controversial as it sounds, and the main one is the ambiguous age of most anime characters - the characters designs (Rin does not look a lot younger than Taiga, for example) and seiyuu (obviously the same). At least here they don't claim that "she's in fact 21/200/immortal" (a lotion scene in a last season series was more potentially offensive, seriously).
As to foul language - good grief, just go into a school and listen to what language kids use nowadays. In my time we didn't know swearwords at that age, now some of those kids speak like... they'd been born in a really bad neighbourhood. Teasing the teacher with that seems to be, really, quite realistic. Children are cruel, that's pretty much a truism.
In short, I think there is other anime that is more worthy of being put under public scrutiny, and so far I find it quite innocent. I'm not a prude, but I think that Kissxsis, for example, is a mindless piece of fanservice for a minor audience with a fetish, while this one tries to show, at least, some kind of depth of relationships and I think actually portrays quite well the hardships of a young teacher.

This is based on ep1 alone. So I was actually wondering if the rest of the show is worth watching. I didn't find it offensive, but then it wasn't hilarious or anything, so I don't know if it's worth my time. As long as things get better (as in, less fanservice and more of solving students' problems - even though the solution to the first problem was sort of easy).
