ANN seemed to be down for a while. What happened? Was it the server switch?

Yeah, I was getting MYSQL errors all day. Was it the server switch or something else?

Even when the site came back, it would not let me go to the forums or My Anime. I didn't know what to do, I need my daily ANN fix or I get VERY cranky

I'm guessing this had something to do with the server changes or maintenance.

I'm guessing the server move was pretty successful.

So how long till the new server? Tempest-sama said it was in customs or something right?
I haven't been able to access this site since Saturday (2 1/2 days ago).

You ran out of disk space?! *mind boggled* I don't suppose you are going to start archiving the old forum posts - I see that you have them reaching all the way back to 31 Jan 02. That should free some gigs of space.

Hahha! For some reason I found this hilarious.
Anyway, hope the server move goes smoothly!

Actually, no. The forum itself is under 100mb. Pruning the forum would -probably- improve the forum's SQL calls... but probably not by any significant amount.

Really, hmm, I must spend too much time around giant, bloated databases. Not much can be done to improve the SQL calls other than indexing and normalized tables with keys. Ideally if the tables are set up correctly the time for a SQL call will be negligible even on large database. So where is all the space being taken up from? The only thing that I can think of would be encyclopedia.
Either that its a small HD

We had an issue similar to what we had this weekend a few months back. In that case, it was due to quite a large amount of binary dumps.
I assume the same occurred this past weekend, when the HD re-filled up due to crashes.

Ah! That I can understand, espicaly if the system is dumping the full RAM. On my desktop I have it set to only dump the working memory and its still alot of space - whouldn't take long for a server to run out of space doing that.
