The one thing they did right was the little bounty hunter tv segment which was like straight out of the anime. Doing all this stuff with Vicious and Julia, making Faye into some kind of morally upright bounty hunter pro, turning Jet into a struggling father (who's ex wife and daughter live in some kind of neighborhood that looks like normal Earth? the hell is this planet?), on top of how hard they try to make it edgy with swearing and nudity/porn, it's a far cry from what Bebop is.
The effects with people turning into tree's was hilarious at least. |

The show was terrible but he’s one of the last people I’d put any blame on for it. I thought he looked a bit old and short for the role but that’s nothing in terms of the real problems.

Iffy quality of a show doesn’t always lead to it being cancelled early on. You have bad shows that stuck around for years before being cancelled or ending it’s run. |

Yeah, I actually really liked him, as well as the other main cast members. They did what they could with a terrible, terrible concept and script. |

He was miscast. And that miscasting was the least of the shows problems.
But I can sympathize with an actor thinking he’s going to be the lead in a huge production, a series that’s a remake of an absolute classic franchise, a lot of money and a lot of hype, only for all of it to come crashing down in less than a month in a sea of bad reviews and Nostalgia Critic memes comparing Ed to a Doug Walker sketch (which I maintain wasn’t their fault, but the direction they were given). It’s gotta give you whiplash. Easy come, easy go. |

If it was so damn terrible can someone please explain to me why its one of the top shows on IMDB? I just don't get. Now before you come at me thinking im defending the series, know that I only watched a few episodes. I have not actually finished the series in Full. I did see the last Clip of ED and I guess people were expecting something Different? But other then that, tell me WHY is the series so popular. Personally of the 3 episodes I saw, I enjoyed it my self. Its nice once in a while to break the normal convetions hollywood production and do somethilng different that follows a style of a different art form like anime put into live action. We just have not tried that this much with TV drama's, we have experimented with films but there needs to be more Tv anime live action drama's. I would deffinitly welcome them but if people keep bashing it eveery time. Eventually production companies are going to get fed up with it and say enough, "we don't do any more".

The live action only has a 6.9 rating on IMDb which is increased by the 7k 10/10 ratings. |

Even if the reaction was slightly more positive, Netflix is the type of service to cancel any show that doesnt become a hit. What they do often is throw darts on the board and see what works.

I think a lot of those cases are probably where the network orders multiple seasons in advance thinking it will be the next big thing but when it flops they're stuck with the multiple season order already in production. |

Also, there's a lot of people that unironically watch all that trash, like it and discuss it, thus giving it an audience, making it trending in social media, and ensuring its permanence through ratings, word of mouth or whatever. Hell, you don't even have to like it; hatewatch it's still a thing, and a lot of trash get renewed because of the bile fascination it produces. The thing with Netflix Bebop was that the negative word of mouth and dismissive reactions from people was mounting waaaaaaaaaay before the show with each revelation and a lot of weird press like tie-ins comics and books the actual show didn't merit, some teasers, and even releasing the Ed cameo two days after the show's release. The end result of those interactions was still overwhelmingly negative, and the show ended being so bad that the second weekend's drop in audience numbers as the article explains didn't help either (which is obviously the more damning thing), so that's probably why the show got cancelled so quickly. I'm trying to remember the last time this kind of overhype killed another show which ended with the same results and made it last one season (or even less), but I just can't remember. |

It is often the case that studios/networks will order multiple seasons, but they rarely if ever pony up the cash for those productions upfront. It is precisely because of situations like this, where a "sure hit" ends up being a flop. They may order multiple seasons, but they typically reserve the ability to cancel for any (or no) reason, with little financial cost. A bad series that fails to get cancelled is more likely to be due to either there being no viable replacement ready, or the perception of it being bad not matching the metrics of how many people watch it or what revenues it generates. Some shows exist solely to sell toys, merchandise, maintain awareness of a larger franchise, or to satisfy other goals that have little to do with the success of that individual show. So as long as that purpose remains and is served, the series itself can endure no matter how bad it is. None of this applied to this Cowboy Bebop entry, so it got the hook. |

Honestly? Divorced from the anime, as a standalone show, it's pretty decent, and way more fun than most of the stuff Netflix usually carts out. The issues come in when you start comparing it to the anime, but a lot of people don't understand (or wanna accept) that generally these live action adaptions aren't really made for anime fans, it's to get these stories to people who wouldn't otherwise give the anime a chance, hence a lot of the changes these adaptions tend to undergo. I know a lot of people who loved it, but they will still never watch the anime. |

Yep John cho was a miscast including whoever wrote their dialogue into the show like that.
The bounty presenters and yoko's music was the only thing done right. |
