Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra Holds Kemono Friends Concert

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The top-selling music of Kemono Friends will get the classical treatment courtesy of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra will perform on July 30 at the Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall.

The orchestra will hold two performances led by conductor Taizo Takemoto.

The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) announced that the Kemono Friends opening theme song "Yōkoso Japari Park e" (Welcome to Japari Park) was downloaded over 100,000 times and thus earned a gold certification.

The series is inspiring a stage play. Bushiroad is developing multiple Kemono Friends games, including a brand-new game for smartphones slated for this summer. The anime is getting "original content" on TV Tokyo's new AniTele app, which launched on April 1. A "new screen project" for Kemono Friends was announced last month.

Orchestra presentations of anime music aren't new. The volleyball anime Haikyu!! was the subject of one such concert earlier this year. Kirby, Kingdom Hearts, Tiger & Bunny, Evangelion & Godzilla, and Hatsune Miku all received orchestra concert performances.
