Philippines' Jeepney TV Expands Hero Zone Timeslot to Saturday

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Saturday time slot will air previous week's Sunday broadcast

Hero announced last week that Philippine cable channel Jeepney TV has added Saturday to its "Hero Zone" programming block. The block will air at the same time as Sunday, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. GMT +8, and will run an encore broadcast of the previous week's Sunday airing.

Currently, the channel is airing the KonoSuba – God’s blessing on this wonderful world!! and Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V anime during the block.

HERO TV recently shut down, airing its last day on January 31, and signing off at 12:00 a.m. on February 1. HERO TV's sister channel TAG also shut down. The channel's social media channels then pivoted as a "digital platform" for news and articles related to pop culture, anime, and gaming. Jeepney TV launched the Hero Zone programming block on March 11.

Media conglomerate ABS-CBN launched HERO TV in 2005. The channel aired Filipino-dubbed anime. The channel initially re-aired classic anime with Filipino dubs that ABS-CBN had already licensed, such as Voltes V, Naruto, Shaman King, and others. HERO TV then moved to licensing anime on its own, and in the past years, has aired Filipino dubs of anime that aired only three or four seasons previous.
