Boku no Hatsukoi o Kimi ni Sasagu Manga Gets Live-Action Series in January

Shūhei Nomura, Hinako Sakurai star in new adaptation of Kotomi Aoki's shojo manga

TV Asahi announced on Wednesday that it is producing a live-action series adaptation of Kotomi Aoki's Boku no Hatsukoi o Kimi ni Sasagu (I Give My First Love to You) manga starring Shūhei Nomura (left in picture below) as Takuma Kakinouchi, and Hinako Sakurai (right) as Mayu Taneda.

The series will premiere on TV Asahi in January, and will air every Saturday in the "Doyō Night Drama" programming block from 11:15 p.m. to 12:05 a.m. Tadaaki Hōrai and Tomoyuki Fujiwara are directing the series, with scripts by Masaya Ozaki. Harumi Fūki is composing the music.

Other cast members include Fumika Baba, Airi Matsui, Honoka Yahagi, Takumi Kizu, Kentarō Tomita, Riko Fukumoto, Hitomi Korenaga, Sei Matobu, and Hikari Ishida.

The shōjo romance story centers on a girl named Mayu, who experiences first love with Takuma, a boy being treated by her cardiologist father. Takuma tries to hide from Mayu the possibility that his heart will stop functioning at any moment after he turns 20 — even though Mayu already knows.

Shogakukan serialized the original manga from 2005 to 2008 in its Sho-Comi magazine, and it published 12 compiled book volumes for the manga. The manga is a spinoff of Aoki's earlier manga Boku wa Imōto ni Koi o Suru. Boku no Hatsukoi o Kimi ni Sasagu already inspired a live-action 2009 film, while Boku wa Imōto ni Koi o Suru also inspired a live-action film in 2006 and an OVA in 2005.

Aoki's Kanojo wa Uso o Ai Shisugiteru manga also inspired a live-action film adaptation in 2013, and later inspired a live-action Korean show.
